Popular Music Venue Re-Opening In Hamden With New Ownership

The local music venue, which was recently closed, will be re-opening under new ownership.

HAMDEN, CT — The popular local music venue, The Outer Space / Ballroom in Hamden, will be re-opening under new ownership under the moniker “Space Ballroom,” according to a press release from Manic Presents. Previously owned and operated by Steve Rodgers, The Outer Space / Ballroom was recently closed. Space Ballroom is located at 295 Treadwell Street in Hamden.

Steve and Jesse Rodgers announced in a Facebook post that the original The Space, located directly across the street from The Outer Space, was closing on Dec. 22, 2017. In the post, the owners said that "as a family we are transitioning to a new phase of life, as our children get older and our family focus deepens, we are choosing a new path."

The new management of the Space Ballroom is Backstage Hamden LLC, whose management operates the bars at College Street Music Hall - New Haven, according to the press release. Manic Presents has been booking and promoting shows in Connecticut for more than 15 years and has become exclusive venue promoter and booking agent. The venue will also be available to outside rentals, local showcases, and other community oriented events, according to the press release from Manic Presents.
