Woman, 83, Injured In Attempted Purse-Snatching: Hamden Police

The victim suffered a serious hip injury when she was knocked to the ground during the attempted robbery, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — An 83-year-old woman suffered a serious hip injury during an attempted robbery at the Hamden Plaza on Saturday morning, according to police.

Police responded to the plaza at 2100 Dixwell Ave. around 10:15 a.m. on the report of an attempted robbery, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.

Dolan said the victim was knocked to the ground during the attack. She was walking through the parking lot when a man tried to take her purse. She was treated at the scene by Hamden Fire Rescue personnel and taken to the hospital with a serious hip injury, according to Dolan.

The suspect fled in a dark-colored Toyota sedan that was occupied by three or four other men.

Dolan said the preliminary investigation found that the vehicle was stolen. Hamden police are working in conjunction with area police departments on the investigation, according to Dolan.
