Popular Hartford Restaurant Appears Shuttered: Report

The downtown eatery has been emptied of all tables, chairs, and other features, with no one answering the phone at the location.

HARTFORD, CT — A well-known Hartford restaurant near the XL Center downtown appears to have shuttered, according to a report.

The Hartford Business Journal Thursday reported that The Tavern Downtown, at 202 Ann Uccello St., across from the XL Center, was recently emptied out.

The HBJ reports an absence of chairs, booths, games, and other items inside the eatery were removed, but no sign of closure is visible.

The Tavern Downtown's website is still operating, but the restaurant's Facebook page hasn't had a post on it since early May.

A phone call to the restaurant Friday morning reveals an automated message reporting a full mailbox.

The Tavern's menu featured traditional, upscale bar fare such as burgers, appetizers, entrees, and drinks.
