MERIDEN, CT — The community is rallying around the family of a Meriden man who died saving his girlfriend’s son’s life.

Kyree Dowd, 27, died last Saturday after saving his girlfriend’s 16-year-old son from drowning at Bantam Lake in Litchfield.

“We want to be sure we support everyone during this difficult time,” Dickerson wrote in the post. “Many have asked how they can pay it forward for Kyree. Let’s help his family through this tragedy with all the love and support we have. Amen.”

Dowd graduated from Sheehan High School in Wallingford, according to his obituary.

“He was a genuine soul who loved living life and making people happy,” the obituary reads.

Nearly $6,300 has been raised within the first two days of the GoFundMe campaign (as of Friday afternoon).
