Why does your mom rock?

My mom recently retired from Milford Hospital after 25 years in the pharmacy department so she can help care for my dad who is a disabled Vietnam Veteran. His health had been declining in recent years and she knew she needed to look after him at home. Everyone at the hospital loved my mom. She would go out of her way to help anyone who needed it.

She never complains and she has a heart of gold. As her daughter, she is my best friend, and the best grandma my three children could have hoped for. She was there with me alongside my husband for all three of my births.

She won’t hesitate to not just “watch” her grandchildren, she knows how to have fun with them! She will be the first person in the pool in the summer or go sledding in the winter. She is a great cook and makes the only meatloaf that my kids will eat! My kids always want to spend time with their “Mimi” and she is a huge part of their lives. She doesn’t miss any of their sporting events and is their biggest fan. She loves spending time with them and even comes on vacation with us. She dresses up for Halloween, and always makes the holidays the best they can be!

She always thinks of others before herself and has spent her whole life taking care of other people including her own mother who was in a nursing home for 20 years. Even though she worked full time, she would always take my grandmother home for the weekend from the nursing home to take care of her.

I always hope that I could be half as good as a mother that my mom has been to me. She really is wonderful and I feel so blessed and lucky to not just call her my mom but also my best friend.
