Why my mom rocks: Valerie Urban’s best feature is being a mother. They say that being a mom is a selfless act, always putting your family first and making sacrifices to ensure the best for your family. There is no way I could possibly put into words how great my mom is. Not only has she been the best mother that my brother and I could ask for, but she is also my best friend, day or night, no matter what.

Every day my mom is my biggest supporter, my best friend and the best cook ever. She has a way of knowing if we had a bad day and plans to make one of our favorite dinners for us to help cheer us up. She always makes sure that she does what is best for our family, when it comes to small or large decisions. My mom takes on many roles within her life and is wonderful at all of them. My mom strives every day to give her all for her children, grandchild, granddog, her husband, her father, father-in-law, siblings, friends, and students.

I have had the pleasure to work side by side with my mom so I know that she is also loving and compassionate with her students. John F. Kennedy Elementary School also feels this way as she has received Para-educator of the year for her ability to be a positive figure in their lives and to help children grow, from working one-on-one with students, supporting fellow staff and evening forming a breakfast club for the children she interacts with everyday. She goes above and beyond with her roles at John F. Kennedy and is known as a motherly figure for many of her fellow educators.

My mother is the total package and the best mom anyone could ever ask for. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the wonderful moms of the world, but most importantly mine! We love you so much!
