Man Pulled From Water Near Savin Lake Dam Dies: Report

The dam is located on the Colchester-Lebanon line​.

LEBANON, CT — State police said a man who was taken to a hospital Thursday morning after nearly drowning near the Savin Lake Dam has died, according to media reports. The dam is located on the Colchester-Lebanon line.

According to Fox 61, state police said the 72-year-old man died at the hospital. His identity has not been released.

Crews responded to the dam around 10:45 a.m., and the man was already ashore when rescue units responded, Fox 61 reported. Officials said at the time the man was in critical condition.

Fire officials said the man was fishing in the area with his friend when he went into the water, according to NBC Connecticut. Officials said it is unclear if the man fell or had some type of medical emergency prior to ending up in the water.

State police are currently investigating the incident, NBC Connecticut reported.
