Middle School Counselor Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Student: Norwalk Police

Police said a middle school guidance counselor accused of "having an inappropriate relationship with a student" was recently arrested.

NORWALK, CT — A guidance counselor at a Norwalk middle school accused of "having an inappropriate relationship with a student" was arrested Thursday, according to police.

In a news release, Police Sgt. Ryan Evarts said the department received a report on April 30 of a Norwalk Public Schools employee having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

The department's Special Victims Unit assumed the investigation and determined Luisa Melchionne, 47, of New Canaan, a guidance counselor at Nathan Hale Middle School, was sexually involved with a male student, Evarts said.

Melchionne was arrested on a warrant Thursday. Evarts also noted she is no longer employed by Norwalk Public Schools.

Melchionne was charged with second-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.

Her bond was set at $500,000 and she is scheduled to appear in court this week, according to Evarts.
