Connecticut Power Outages: More Than 7,000 Residents Without Power

A major Nor'easter impacted the state Monday and Tuesday leading to numerous power outages.

As of 7:30 a.m. Tuesday there are more than 7,400 Connecticut residents without power, according to Eversource officials. A significant Nor'easter impacted the state Monday night and early Tuesday dropping lots of ice and rain across Connecticut, and generating powerful wind gusts.

A total of 1,100 outages are in Stafford, 500 each in Brooklyn and Thomspon, 400 in Ledyard, 250 in Coventry, 200 each in Westbrook, Woodstock, and East Hampton. East Windsor and East Hampton are also reporting more than 150 outages each.

Madison has 140 outages, Stonington 174, Guilford, 142, Montville, 113, and New Milford over 100 outages.

As of 11:15 p.m. Monday nearly 2,000 Connecticut residents were without power, according to Eversource.

A total of 750 outages were reported in Stamford, 233 in Brookfield, 133 in Weston, 130 in Clinton, 103 in Bethany, and 130 in Plymouth.

As of 8:45 p.m. Monday nearly 800 Connecticut residents are without power, according to Eversource. Communities reporting the most outages include: Voluntown, 168, Sterling, 165, Plymouth, 160, Stafford, 143, Litchfield, 121, Oxford, 84, Greenwich, 49, and Madison, 40.


Original post: The Nor'easter is moving into Connecticut now and already winds are whipping around and close to 1,000 residents are without power. Winds are expected to gust up to 55 mph tonight in Connecticut and possibly 60 mph along the coast.

Eversource as of 5:20 p.m. is reporting 988 outages in Connecticut including: Naugatuck, 321, Plymouth, 160, Stafford, 143, Southbury, 124, and Oxford 93.

Those numbers are expected to increase as the night goes along and into Tuesday morning.
