Unborn Baby Girl Fights For Life, Inspires Crowdfunding Campaign

The incoming child faces a major surgery upon her birth, and her arrival is expected any day now.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — U.S. Army veteran Josh Tyree and his wife Ellyse are eagerly awaiting the birth of their little girl Quinley, but they know their newborn child will face the fight of her life upon arrival.

Ellyse Tyree's father, Ridgefield resident Joe Szewczak, has started a GoFundMe campaign to help the family with Quinley's medical care. The couple learned in November that she had been diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia, which threatens the development of her lungs.

"When she is born, they will learn if her lungs have developed sufficiently to support her and will have to endure a major surgery to correct the hernia," reads the GoFundMe page."Quinley will have to fight for her life and will have an extended hospital stay."

The couple lives in Huntsville, Alabama, more than an hour away from the hospital where Quinley will be treated, according to the GoFundMe campaign. Funds raised will be used to support the couple with uncovered medical costs and to support the reduction in income they face while Ellyse Tyree had to stop working.

The campaign, started Saturday, has raised $7,445 with 51 donors in three days. To donate to the campaign, click here.

"Quinley could be born any day and your donation will help them get through this difficult time. Thank you for reading this and thanks for considering a gift," reads the page."Please also keep Ellyse, Josh and Quinley in your prayers."
