Ridgefield High School Student Dies: 'Tragic Loss'

RIDGEFIELD — A Ridgefield High School student died early Monday morning, according to a statement from school officials.

“The loss for our students' family and friends is one that is unimaginable, and we offer them our prayers and unconditional love and attention," Superintendent Susie Da Silva said in a message to the school community.

Da Silva said that the schools would wait before sharing any further information "out of respect for the family."

Ridgefield Public Schools counselors and representatives from local crisis counseling organizations will be available for students, according to the statement.

Capt. Jeff Raines of the Ridgefield Police Department issued a statement at 3 p.m., extending that agency's "heartfelt condolences" to "the student's family and everyone else affected by this tragic loss."
