Rocky Hill PD Mourning the Loss of Police Dog Ranger

He was put down by veterinarians on Wednesday.

ROCKY Hill, CT — Rocky Hill police dog Ranger was put to sleep early Wednesday morning, just four days after his 13th birthday, The Connecticut Police Work Dog Association announced.

The procedure took place at about 5 a.m. at the Animal Hospital of Rocky Hill, according to the announcement.

Ranger was partnered with Sgt. Joseph Phelps.

According to the announcement Phelps made the decision, "to end his loyal partner’s suffering."
