Rocky Hill Track Coach Being Investigated for Misconduct

Authorities in Rocky Hill on Thursday said they are ​investigating reports of misconduct between a high school track coach and a student.

ROCKY HILL, CT — Authorities in Rocky Hill on Thursday said they are investigating reports of misconduct between a now former high school track coach and a student.

Two other coaches who are also teachers are on leave, authorities said.

Police acknowledged the case and called it an active investigation involving detectives, and therefore declined to give any details when contacted. No one was named on Thursday and no charges have been filed.

Police were referring Thursday calls about the case to the superintendent of schools.

An administrator said superintendent Mark Zito was drafting a letter about the incident that was to be released Thursday afternoon.

At 1:56 p.m., Zito Released the following statement:

"The Rocky Hill Board of Education is aware of allegations against a former employee. As there is an ongoing investigation, I can only confirm that a former track and field coach, who was not and is not employed as a teacher in Rocky Hill or any other school district, resigned from his coaching position on May 29, 2018.

"I can further confirm that two teachers at Rocky Hill High School, who also serve as coaches on the track and field team, were placed on administrative leave, with pay and without prejudice, on May 30, 2018, pending the results of an ongoing investigation.

"The safety of our students is our first priority, and we are cooperating fully with the investigation of this matter."
