Bank Branch In West Hartford To Close

Officials with the worldwide banking company said other branches in town will remain.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — One of three West Hartford branches of a well-known bank chain in the U.S. will be shuttering this September.

Officials with Santander Bank confirmed Wednesday the Santander Bank branch at 1040 Boulevard in West Hartford will close on Sept. 19.

Bank officials said the other two sites in West Hartford — 1010 Farmington Ave. and 342 N. Main St. — will remain.

A Santander spokesperson said the Boulevard branch will merge with the branch on Farmington Avenue, which is only 2 miles away.

The company said the ATM at the 1040 Boulevard location will remain open for customer convenience.

In addition to the three branches, Santander also operates ATMs inside West Hartford CVS Pharmacy locations at 150 S. Main St., 1044 Boulevard, and 1240 Farmington Ave.

According to Santander, bank traffic has transitioned into more customers utilizing online banking instead of in-person branches.

With corporate headquarters based in Boston, Mass., Santander has branches throughout the U.S., Europe, and South America.'

It operates about 650 branches in the U.S., with 15 in Connecticut.
