Woodbury Public Library

The Woodbury Public Library invites you to “Meet Your Community”. On selected Thursday evenings, members of Woodbury’s nonprofits will provide exciting details of the roles they play in the Woodbury community and surrounding towns. You’ll have an opportunity to learn more about what each group does, how they give back to the community and how you can volunteer and share in their missions. 
On Sept 12 at 6:30 PM meet the Community Services Council of Woodbury and the Woodbury Food Bank and learn about their good works for Woodbury residents and how you can volunteer.
The Community Services Council of Woodbury, a nonprofit agency governed by a board of directors that includes clergy from participating faith communities, four elected officers, and representatives of the town government and community, has been serving the Town of Woodbury for three decades.

Meet Your Community: Community Services Council of Woodbury 

The Community Services Council of Woodbury invites you to “Spread the Light” and share in CSCW’s mission to assist Woodbury’s neighbors in need. With a suggested donation of $10, a personal dedication will be inscribed on a star lantern that will be displayed on the Leroy Anderson Bandstand on Woodbury’s North Green on the evening of September 13th through the morning of September 14th.



The display of stars will be set aglow at 5:00 PM and will continue to glimmer through the night. Each illuminated star lantern will represent dedications made through a donation to CSCW’s Spread the Light campaign, and reflects the compassion and commitment to our community. 
Donors wishing to make a gift can do so by mail, online or in person at the Food Bank.
Checks can be mailed to: CSCW, P.O. Box 585, Woodbury CT 06798, online payments can be made through the PayPal portal on the CSCW page on the Town of Woodbury’s website <a href="https://www.woodburyct.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.woodburyct.org</a>
or in person at the Food Bank on Wednesday – Saturday mornings. Dedications may also be submitted to the attention of the CSCW President, Jeff McKenna at <a href="mailto:community.services.council@gmail.com">community.services.council@gmail.com</a> 
Proceeds from the annual “Spread the Light” appeal supports CSCW’s programs to provide food, energy and crisis assistance to Woodbury households in times of need. CSCW is an independent nonprofit organization that relies on private donations and grants to support its operations. Please join us as we “Spread the Light” this September.

In honor of the occasion, an Open House will be held on September 14, 2024 from 10:00 am - 3:00pm. Everyone is invited to attend FREE&nbsp;yoga and pilates&nbsp;classes in person or via zoom. There will also be an Aerial Yoga demo, raffle prizes and special discount pricing available for those who attend. Amie Petro, E-RYT 500, CPT opened Flow to Fit Yoga &amp; Fitness Studio in August 2015. Amie specializes in helping people with chronic pain/weakness from surgery or injuries regain strength, flexibility, stamina and improve their overall well-being.

Join Megan Baldrige as she shares her poetry at the Woodbury Public Library. Megan Baldrige is a homegrown Woodbury poet, graduate of Mitchell Elementary School, and daughter of Midge and the late Mac Baldrige, longtime Woodbury residents. She studied Japanese at Yale, moved to New Mexico in the 1980’s and worked as a teacher until retirement 10 years ago. Recently she has written poetry: about politics, pumpkins, the pandemic, weeds in the garden, bad dogs and about the passion of addictive knitting. She will read a motley crew of light-hearted poems from her twelve books.

The “Friends” of Woodbury Senior Community Center, Inc. invite you to a musical reminiscence afternoon, featuring Singer Jack Lynn’s Tribute to Dean Martin. Jack Lynn’s Tribute to Dean Martin is scheduled for Sunday, September 15, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at the Woodbury Senior Community Center. 
Take a trip down memory lane with Jack Lynn’s “Dino" style and sound. Recall the "Swingin' Rat Pack Years" of the late 40's, 50's and 60's? Jack Lynn looks and sounds like Dean Martin. He will perform many memorable tunes made famous by Dean Martin and his Pals.
Remember Amore, Return to Me, Memories Are Made of This, Everybody Loves Somebody and all the other great Dino hits. Close your eyes and you will be transported back to a time when things were a bit more relaxed and easy-going!
