Surprise! Green Day is Coming to the 9:30 Club Next Month

Tickets go on sale on Sept. 9 for the Oct. 3 show -- four days before their next album drops.

WASHINGTON, DC — Punk rock legends Green Day are making a surprise stop at D.C.'s legendary 9:30 Club in October, and tickets will be going on sale in just a couple days.

Green Day suddenly announced a huge new tour Tuesday beginning in the United States and Canada and then proceeding to Europe in 2017, and D.C.'s music hotspot is on the list on Oct. 3, two days after a show in Boston and five days before the band departs for New York's Webster Hall. Four days after playing in D.C., Green Day will release their 12th studio album, "Revolution Radio."

"Produced by Green Day and recorded in Oakland, Revolution Radio is a potent 12-track blitz of angst-ridden anthems that unites Green Day's fully formed stylistic approach with lyrical themes that address the complexities and uncertainties of modern day existence," reads the statement. "Musically, the album is raw, visceral, and fearless — solidifying the band's reign as one of the leading voices in rock music. Inspired by recent events, the first single 'Bang Bang' marks a welcome return from a band with more to say than ever."
