Suspect Sought In Fatal Desoto Road Shooting: Sheriff

SARASOTA, FL — Deputies are looking for the suspect in a fatal Sunday afternoon shooting on Desoto Road in Sarasota, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.

Around 4 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the area of 3250 Desoto Road, the sheriff’s office said.

Witnesses told investigators that a male suspect shot the victim during a confrontation and ran away from the area. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, SCSO said.

The suspect was seen leaving the area with an unidentified man in a gray or silver sedan eastbound on Desoto Road.

Detectives believe the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. They are still working to notify the victim’s next of kin, the sheriff’s office said.
