Tequesta, Fla., (July 16, 2024) – Lighthouse ArtCenter (LAC) is pleased to announce “LUSH 3,” a biennial exhibition showcasing contemporary ceramics. This edition of “LUSH” includes the large-scale work of underwater photographer Chris Leidy. The opening reception is September 12, 5 - 7 p.m., with LAC's signature light bites, refreshments, and opportunities to meet the exhibiting artists. Admission is free for members and a $5 suggested donation for nonmembers. For more information, visit lighthousearts.org.
"We are thrilled to present 'LUSH 3,' celebrating the forefront of contemporary ceramics and the mesmerizing underwater photography of Chris Leidy," said Jeni Licata, Executive Director of Lighthouse ArtCenter. "This exhibition underscores our commitment to inspiring and engaging our community through innovative art forms and exceptional talent."
This juried exhibition welcomed submissions from emerging and established ceramic artists nationwide, showcasing functional, sculptural, and experimental pieces created within the past two years. Selected by a panel of nationally recognized ceramics artists and judged by Lighthouse ArtCenter’s 30Wings Fellowship Visiting Artist Jamie Bates, the exhibition culminates in an Artists' Reception and Awards Ceremony on October 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Gallery and 2D Studio. Over $4,000 in prizes will be awarded to outstanding artists.
"The variety of concepts, techniques, and processes showcased throughout the ‘LUSH’ exhibitions are simply spectacular,” said Director of Ceramics and Sculpture. “The work demonstrates remarkable visual diversity despite the surprising commonality of clay as the primary material in all the works."
Photographer Chris Leidy finds his inspiration within the depths of global oceans. Underwater, Leidy captures the mysterious and unpredictable depths of the sea through his lens. The exhibition will feature an extraordinary collection of underwater limited-edition photography in a variety of large-scale sizes. During his vast exploration of the oceans in Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, and all over the water-bearing world, Chris has attracted the attention of serious art collectors, ocean enthusiasts, and environmentalists.
“The colors, forms, texture, and scale of the coral and other underwater lifeforms in Leidy’s work compliment the ceramic pieces in many different ways,” said Anthony Record, Curator of Lighthouse ArtCenter. “His photography provides a strong unifying force in the show that makes the very diverse array of sculptures from dozens of artists feel more connected, part of the same coral colony if you will.”
Located in Tequesta, Lighthouse ArtCenter has been a cornerstone of the visual arts in northern Palm Beach and Martin Counties since 1964. Sunset Stroll at Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens

The Foundry

Ronnie Larsen’s play about looking for love and sex in San Francisco in the 1990’s, Scenes From My Love Life explores the lives of nine gay men searching for both. A friend told Larsen he should write a play about his sex life and people would come. He took his advice and wrote a simple play about literally just scenes from his sex life. Not scenes of him having sex but walking around in circles at a sex club for three hours cruising and talking on a phone sex line. The play premiered at Theatre Rhinoceros in San Francisco on August 4, 1994 and received critical acclaim and played to sold out houses for six months. "Plays out like an erotic dream...invigorating, entertaining and insightful...demands to be seen." Chad Jones, Bay Area Reporter.
The play forever changed Larsen’s life. He remembers, “The audience laughed at everything and I thought to myself, maybe I can write plays that sell tickets and make people laugh. For the first time I made money in theatre and I saw a path to actually make a living doing commercial work. ” 
Ronnie Larsen Presents, Plays of Wilton and The Peacock Residences are ecstatic to present the 30th Year Anniversary Production of Scenes From My Love Life at The Foundry beginning Saturday September 7, 2024 and running through Sunday October 13, 2024. 
Fresh from the sold-out extension of A Shonda, The Musical, Christopher Ross-Dybash returns immediately to The Foundry Stage. Other returning Foundry Alumni include Henry Redlich, Adam Clinard, Gary Staegemann, John Crossan and Scott Jordan. Making their Foundry debuts are Matt Almeida, Elan Ezra Harari and Joseph Guidetti (Plays of Wilton’s Associate Producer/ Grants Administrator). Ronnie Larsen will direct the production.

Better Together is partnering with The Light WPB to host a community job fair from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 in West Palm Beach. 
Registration is now open for hiring employers and job seekers to participate in the September event. The church-based job fairs not only connect job seekers with local employers who are ready to hire, but also provide resources to facilitate stronger connections and more hires. Free one-on-one job coaching sessions are available to job seekers to review resumes and interviewing skills, and additional services will be available onsite.
The community job fair is part of Better Together’s “Better Jobs” program, which has helped 45,000 applicants connect with employment opportunities across 24 states. At job fairs hosted by Better Together, two-thirds of attendees get a job interview, and 1 in 4 receive a job offer on the spot. Some 70% find work within six weeks.

Encore Dancesport Competition 2024 will take place on September 15th 2024, at the renowned luxury PGA National Resort in Plam Beach Gardens , Florida.
This is a unique opportunity to see aspiring amateur dancers competing in a variety of styles in the Pro/Am divisions, as well as renowned professional couples in exhibitions during the evening sessions.
Encore will open on Sunday, September 15th, at 8am and will feature competition for professional and amateur couples in the Smooth and Ballroom divisions. Rhythm and Latin divisions will follow at 1pm. The cocktail reception at 7:30 pm will be followed by a formal gourmet dinner in the ballroom, an awards reception, and more general dancing. 
Sunday will conclude with a Professional Show featuring the headliners of the evening 
The jury panel consists of some of the most celebrated former or current World and US Champion members.
