North Cobb High School Narrowly Misses State Average SAT Scores

The Acworth High School was behind the Cobb County and national average scores for the Class of 2014.

Acworth’s North Cobb High School scored lower than the county, state, and national average scores on the most recent administering of the SAT, figures from the Cobb County School District released on Tuesday reveal.

The average Warrior senior scored 1441 on the 1900-point exam, which was just four points lower than the statewide average of 1445. In Cobb County, the average SAT score was 1515, which was 18 points above the national average score of 1497.

82 percent of North Cobb’s Class of 2014 took the SAT, up from 78 percent of the Class of 2013. North Cobb’s test-takers earned an average critical reading score of 493, a 1-point increase from 2013’s levels. The school’s math score decreased from 477 to 475 between 2013 and 2014, echoing a similar decline across the county and state. Writing scores increased from 470 to 473 for the Class of 2014.

In Cobb County, Walton High School boasted the highest average score of 1724, marking the seventh consecutive year that school has topped the 1700 mark on the SAT. Osborne High School brought up the rear of the county’s scores, with an average of 1248.
