After Saving Kitten, Alpharetta-Based Pet Rescue Group Wins Grant

A $50,000 grant from the Petco Foundation will help Angels Among Us Pet Rescue continue its life-saving efforts in the metro Atlanta area.

The Petco Foundation last week awarded a grant to an Alpharetta-based organization in response to its campaign to save the life of a wounded kitten.

The company announced a $50,000 investment in Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, which will help the animal welfare organization maintain its life-saving efforts for animals throughout the metro Atlanta area.

Petco learned about the organization when it came to the aid of Devin, a kitten rescued after an unsupervised child ”threw him around like an unbreakable toy, crushing his bones and causing mobility loss in his rear legs,” Petco said in its news release.

When AAUPR took his story to Facebook, donations poured in to cover his vetting fees and show support, and a separate Facebook page was even created for the kitten.

The investment is part of Petco Foundation’s Holiday Wishes grant campaign, a partnership with Halo, Purely for Pets, designed to help the most dedicated animal welfare organizations succeed in their mission to save pets’ lives during the holidays throughout the year.
