MIDTOWN, GA — New police footage reveals the arrest of 24-year-old Deion Patterson, the man accused of killing a woman and injuring four others in the May 3 shooting at a Northside Hospital medical facility.

After an hourslong manhunt that began in Midtown on West Peachtree Street, Patterson was tracked to Cobb County with the use of Georgia Department of Transportation cameras and was arrested around 8 p.m. He remained Wednesday in the Fulton County Jail on suspicion of one count of murder and four counts of aggravated assault, according to jail records.

Cobb County Police Chief Stuart VanHoozer previously said GDOT cameras helped lead police to a vacant building that was under construction near Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta, where Patterson was apprehended.

The GDOT video opens with a view of the area surrounding The Battery Atlanta and Spring Road before showing a person in dark clothing running across Heritage Court at Windy Ridge Parkway. The person is seen in the video running into a construction area.

Then, body cam footage shows a Cobb officer as he arrives to the scene. Officers are then shown in the body cam video with their guns drawn on a person with their hands raised in the air. The officers are seen in the video shouting commands to the person, telling them to put their hands in front of them and onto the ground. The person is seen complying with the commands. Once the person is on the ground, officers move in and handcuff the person.

Shooting in Midtown

The shooting took place in the 11th floor waiting room at Northside's Midtown facility, where police said Patterson had an appointment.

Atlanta Deputy Police Chief Charles Hampton Jr. said officers were dispatched to the scene after the first victim was shot shortly before noon.

One of the victims, 39-year-old Amy St. Pierre, died at the scene and four other women between the ages of 25 and 71 were taken to the hospital, police said. Two of the women were employees at Northside's Laureate Medical Group.

Two of the women have since been released from Grady Memorial Hospital.

Atlanta Police said a carjacking took place shortly after the shooting at the Northside Hospital medical facility and said the car was believed to have been recovered in Cobb County.
