UPDATE: Veteran Atlanta Truck Driver Wins the Lottery

Randolph Adams matched all 6 numbers during the Oct. 13 Decades of Dollars drawing.

UPDATE (4:00 p.m.): The man who won a recent drawing of the Georgia Lottery’s Decades of Dollars game has come forward to receive his prize.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Randolph Adams purchased the winning ticket at the QuikTrip at 5705 Fulton Industrial Blvd. Adams’ ticket matched all six of the numbers drawn on Oct. 13, entitling him to choose between 30 annual payments of $25,000 dollars or an immediate cash payout.

Adams, who has been driving trucks since Dwight Eisenhower was president, chose the immediate cash payout of $7.5 million.

ORIGINAL STORY (12:30 p.m.): An Atlantan has hit the jackpot and has won the Decades of Dollars lottery game, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The winner was presented with a check for $7.5 million at a ceremony held on Wednesday morning, writes the newspaper.

Decades of Dollars players pay $2 to select six numbers between 1 and 47. Players who match five of the six drawn numbers win $10,000. Players who match all six numbers are entitled to either an up-front cash payment or 30 annual payments of $250,000. It is not clear which option the Atlanta winner chose.

Decades of Dollars has been phased out by the Georgia Lottery and is being replaced by the Monopoly Millionaires’ Club. The last Decades of Dollars drawing was on Oct. 16, with the first Monopoly Millionaires’ Club drawing held on Oct. 19.
