Canton Wants To Hire New Firefighters

The city of Canton is now accepting applications for those interested in the position of firefighter.

Some of the job duties include combating, extinguishing and preventing fires; provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured; and maintaining equipment and apparatus. This position is primarily responsible for safe and efficient operation of a variety of fire apparatus and follows the directions that are given by ranking officers in terms of Canton Fire Department orders, goals and objectives.

Minimum qualifications for the position are:

• high school diploma or equivalent;
• Must possess a Georgia Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate (EMT-I) or higher license;
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a state of Georgia Firefighter Certification and a National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) Firefighter I Certification within the first twelve months of employment;
• Must possess and maintain a valid state of Georgia driver’s license;
• Must be at least 18 years of age; and
• equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
