Smoke Alarm Alerts Cherokee Resident To House Fire

A home located in the Macedonia community east of Canton was damaged in a fire Wednesday evening.

A Cherokee County resident and his dog were able to escape a Wednesday evening fire with the help of smoke alarms.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the fire around 5:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at 131 Magnolia Creek Drive, which sits off East Cherokee Drive in the Macedonia community.

Firefighters arrived onto the scene to discover smoke and flames coming from the home. Matthew Morgan, who was inside the home when the fire started, said the alarms inside the house alerted him to the fire, said Cherokee Fire spokesperson Tim Cavender.
