Cumming Man to Hold Charity Golf Tournament

Proceeds will benefit Georgia Organ Transplant patients and families.

A Cumming man who received a life-saving liver transplant will host a Charity Golf Tournament to benefit other Georgia patients and families who are affected by organ transplants.

Kirk Franz created the Swing Easy Hit Hard Foundation organization after his liver transplant in 2010. The non-profit, fundraising organization is dedicated to raising awareness of organ donation and providing support for patients and families who are going through similar circumstances he experienced.

Franz was diagnosed with a rare liver disease and bile duct cancer. Luckily, he waited less than one week for his transplant.

“I had no idea how often people in the Atlanta area were receiving an organ transplant,” Franz said. “There are several each week. And most have to wait a lot longer than I did to receive their gift of life.”

“I love to golf and always enjoyed playing in charity golf tournaments,” Franz said. “Now I had a great reason to organize a tournament of my own to support a worthy cause that is very close to me and my family.”
