Forsyth County residents who have unneeded medication they wish to dispose of can now do so at the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office’s North Precinct at Central Park in Cumming.

The Office announced yesterday on its Facebook page that the new disposal box was now ready to accept residents’ medications. A disposal box had been previously installed at the Office’s South Precinct, located at 2985 Ronald Reagan Blvd. near South Forsyth High School.

Medication disposal boxes are essential to preventing medicine from entering the county’s water supply through residents flushing their pills down the toilet or leaving them in a landfill. The Sheriff’s Office also advises that pets or kids can get to pills left in trash cans, or that pills can fall into the wrong hands if left unattended and unused.

Both precincts of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every weekday except for holidays.
