A longtime employee of the Cumming Donut Connection has been forced off the job due to a medical condition, but her former employer wants to make sure she gets the support she needs.

Hilda Hodge has worked for the Donut Connection for the last nine years, and has also maintained a second job to help care for her seven children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, Hodge is suffering from advanced liver disease and can no longer work.

To help out Hodge and other local residents in need of assistance, a spaghetti dinner benefit will be held on Friday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 3225 Keith Bridge Rd. Plates will cost $7, but all donations will be accepted. Residents who call in advance can have their meal ready for them to take home for lunch or dinner. The spaghetti will be served with Hodge’s own special sauce.

Apart from spaghetti, garlic bread, Italian salad, homemade desserts, and iced tea will be served during the event. Live music will also be performed.
