Dacula-Area Schools: SAT Scores Rise at Mill Creek, Mountain View

But most of county system schools, including Dacula High, saw a slight decline 2013 to 2014.

SAT scores for Gwinnett County Public Schools were slightly lower in 2014 than 2013, according to data released by the school district Tuesday.

But the average county score was still above Georgia and national averages.

Gwinnett schools averaged 1505 on the SAT in 2014, down from 1513 in 2013. The Georgia average in 2014 was 1445, and the national average was 1497.

Only six of the 20 Gwinnett schools listed with 2014 score averages saw an increase over last year — Central Gwinnett, Grayson, Gwinnett Online Campus, Mill Creek, Mountain View, North Gwinnett.

Other Gwinnett SAT highlights

· Over the last five years, GCPS has experienced a 23 percent increase in SAT participation. In 2010, 6,723 students took the SAT in Gwinnett. This past year, Gwinnett had 8,316 SAT test takers. Gwinnett’s 23 percent increase is well above Georgia and the nation, which saw 5 percent and 4.7 percent increases, respectively.

· Five-year trend data in critical reading scores indicate the achievement gap between students continues to close. The mean critical reading score for African American students has increased by six points since 2010 and the scores for white students have remained consistent.

· The top 10 percent of Gwinnett students are performing well above their peers in the top 10 percent of classes at both the state and the national level. Math mean scores for GCPS students in the top 10 percent of the class are 59 points higher than their peers in the state and 28 points higher than the nation. In Reading/Writing, mean scores for GCPS students in the top 10 percent of the class are 30 to 40 points higher than their peers in the state and nation.
