Former Hiram High Hornet standout and current Middle Tennessee Blue Raider Leighton Gasque had an incredible opportunity this summer to intern at NASA.

Gasque is a senior linebacker at MTSU and has led the team in sacks the previous three seasons and is also a 4.0 student majoring in analytical aerospace.

MTSU houses a state-of-the-art airline operations center funded by NASA. The FOCUS lab (which stands for Flight Operation Center-Unified Simulation) provides real-life simulations that few facilities in the country can.

Gasque, during his internship, spent two months at a NASA facility in California installing the FOCUS software and building the lab at NASA’s Ames Research Center along with other duties.

Gasque enters his senior season 6.5 sacks shy of the school record currently held by Erik Walden who plays for the Indianapolis Colts. We wish Leighton the best of luck as he enters his senior season at MTSU and thank him for representing the Paulding County School District.
