Fire Department Collecting Food, Coats for Decatur's Needy

Residents can also drop off donation at City Hall, the recreation center or at the Dec. 18 Bonfire on the Square.

The City of Decatur Fire Department is collecting non-expired food items and gently used winter coats to share with those in need in the community this holiday season.

Residents may drop off items at either City of Decatur Fire Station, 230 E. Trinity Place or 356 W. Hill St.; the Decatur Recreation Center at 231 Sycamore St.; or City Hall, 509 N. McDonough St.

You can also bring donations with you to the Bonfire and Marshmallow Roast on the Square Thursday, Dec. 18. Just look for the big red collection barrels. The free event runs from 7 to 8  p.m. and is sponsored by the Decatur Business Association.
