Goodwill Store and Career Center Coming to Decatur Site

Goodwill of North Georgia begins construction on their location in Decatur, which will have a store and career center.

Goodwill of North Georgia has broken ground on its newest store and career center in Decatur, located in North DeKalb Square Shopping Center at 2210 Lawrenceville Highway.

The nonprofit plans to open the 103,000 square-foot facility in phases, starting with its store and following with the career center and corporate support teams.

“We believe our presence will breathe new life into the community,” Elaine Armstrong, the nonprofit’s Director of Public Relations, said in a press release. “Not only will our store draw shoppers and donors, but our two-story career center will allow us to serve a large number of job seekers.”

Goodwill of North Georgia runs two other career centers on Columbia Drive and Buford Highway which offer a number of resources for job-seekers, all paid for through the sale of donated goods in the store. Some of these programs include job training and assistance writing cover letters and resumes.

According to Armstrong, each new store and career center creates around 40 jobs itself.
