Volunteers Overcome Weather to Repair Decatur Children's Home

These projects saved the United Methodist Children's Home roughly $2,500.

The rain and mud last week didn’t keep 13 volunteers with CBRE Group, Inc. from joining with HomeAid Atlanta to make some much-needed repairs to Decatur’s United Methodist Children’s Home.

On Oct. 3, volunteers from CBRE, a Fortune 500 commercial real estate services firm, participated in HomeAid Atlanta’s fifth annual HomeAid Care Day. They tore out old carpeting, installed new laminate flooring, cleared out two storage rooms, and organized a tool storage workshop.

The facilities manager at United Methodist Children’s Home, Sergio Perez, even said in a press release from HomeAid that the efforts of CBRE volunteers have saved the facility an estimated $2,500 in repair fees and labor.

“HomeAid is fortunate to partner with CBRE for the fifth year,” added Jean Hilyard, HomeAid Atlanta’s Executive Director. “This group is always well organized and ready to work. They certainly help HomeAid with our outreach efforts, and make an enormous impact for every service provider we have had the pleasure to assist together.”

HomeAid Atlanta’s previous partnerships with CBRE have resulted in volunteer projects at HomeStretch, Essentials for Young Lives, and The Drake House.
