'Red Ribbon Week' Declared in Douglas County

The annual campaign emphasizes the dangers of illegal drugs and the misuse of legal ones, and encourages a drug-free lifestyle.

Believing that the future of our community is at stake, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners declared October 23rd - 31st as “Red Ribbon Week” in Douglas County to highlight the dangers of and help to reduce the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs by its residents.

“Red Ribbon Week” is an annual campaign to emphasize the dangers of illegal drugs and the misuse of legal ones, and encourage a drug-free lifestyle. Red ribbons are worn and displayed during the week as a reminder.

The “Red Ribbon Week” campaign is being coordinated by Cobb and Douglas Public Health and the UGA Extension Service Office in Douglas County.
