Marietta Named One of the Most Caring Small Cities in America

The city's high number of animal shelters, community services, carpooling workers, and mental health professionals secured the high ranking.

A real estate brokerage website has released its list of the top ten most caring small cities in the United States, and Marietta earned a top three ranking.

According to Movoto, Marietta was named the second-most caring small city in the country based on factors including its student to counselor ratio, its crime rate per 100,000 people, its number of pet rescues and pet shelters per capita, the amount of community services available per capita, the amount of mental health counselors and therapists per capita, and the percent of workers who carpool.

“Despite the fact that Marietta didn’t exactly have the best track record in crime (it ranked 126th here), it more than made up for this by scoring well in all of our other categories. With places like Good Mews Animal Foundation and Our Pal’s Place, just to name a couple, Marietta had the fourth most animal shelters per capita,” Movoto wrote.

Marietta also had the fifth most mental health counselors and therapists per capita and more than 15 percent of Marietta’s workforce cares for mother nature by carpooling.

Movoto recently ranked Atlanta as the most-caring large city in the country. It’s nice to know that caring citizens also exist outside the perimeter.
