A kitten in Kennesaw may have one less life after falling 50 feet from a tree, but he has a new lease on life following his rescue.

According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the kitten had been stuck in a tree at the Legacy Park subdivision for three days before a tree service company was called to help free the animal. The kitten was a member of a litter of newborns abandoned in the subdivision, FOX 5 Atlanta says.

The tree service worker was using a chainsaw to clear some branches from his path when the kitten, already out on a limb trying to escape, lost his grip and fell down to earth, FOX 5 Atlanta says. Several residents had set up a makeshift rescue net to break the kitten’s fall, video acquired by FOX 5 Atlanta shows.

FOX 5 Atlanta says the kitten survived his tumble, and was eating minutes afterwards. One of the kitten’s litter mates was in the same tree, but was easily corralled and lowered to the ground in a basket, FOX 5 Atlanta reports. The kitten and one of his fellow litter mates will be taken to Inspire Pet Rescue for recovery and adoption, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
