"Sleepy Hollow" has used Lawrenceville to fill in for the show's town of Sleepy Hollow, New York.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- A spooky TV show shot in Lawrenceville is up for an award given to productions that make the best use of their locations.

"Sleepy Hollow" is a nominee in the "Period Television" category of the 3rd Annual Location Managers Guild International Awards.

The Awards honor TV shows, movies and commercials "in which the creative use of filming locations enhances or helps to drive the storyline," according to the award's website.

The Fox supernatural drama premiered in 2013. It portrays a fictionalized version of the New York town of Sleepy Hollow and is inspired by the 1820 short ghost story by Washington Irving.

Much of the show has been filmed in North Carolina. But the majority of Season 3, which is nominated for the location managers award, was filmed in Lawrenceville and Conyers.

The show has shot on Lawrenceville's historic courthouse square and at other locations.

"Filming on historic properties and in town squares with lots of traffic and commerce can be difficult but the City of Lawrenceville made it happen for our production," said Nancy Haecker, "Sleepy Hollow's" location scout and manager. "We are extremely appreciative of (economic development director) Lisa Sherman, the Town Council and the community for their support and cooperation."

Other nominees in "Sleepy Hollow"'s category are "Aquarius," "Fargo," "Game of Thrones" and "Gotham."

Winners will be announced at a ceremony on Saturday, April 23.
