Midtown Shooting Suspect Arrested After Cobb County Search

The man is accused of killing a woman and injuring four others Wednesday at Northside Hospital medical facility in Midtown.

COBB COUNTY, GA — The man accused of killing one woman and injuring four others during a shooting at an Atlanta medical facility Wednesday has been arrested, both Atlanta Police and Cobb County Police said.

Police said the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Deion Patterson, was arrested Wednesday evening after an hourslong search that included SWAT, deputies and police officers. Police did not say where Patterson was arrested.

Several false alarms were checked as part of the search, including at 200 Galleria Pkwy.

Atlanta Police said a carjacking took place shortly after the shooting at the Northside Hospital medical facility in Atlanta's Midtown neighborhood on West Peachtree Street. Atlanta Police said the car was believed to have been recovered in Cobb County.

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said police believe the suspect fled the scene after carjacking a vehicle nearby.

Channel 2 Action News obtained a photo of the vehicle, which Cobb Police said was found in a parking garage near The Battery Atlanta.

Police released four surveillance images of the suspect who is seen wearing a mask, dark colored pants and a light colored hoodie.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 in the case.
