Emory Hospital Says Nurse's Blood Free of Ebola

No release date has been set for Amber Vinson, who is still recovering from the virus in Midtown.

A nurse who contracted Ebola while treating a patient at a Dallas hospital no longer has any trace of the virus in her blood, the Atlanta hospital treating her announced Friday.

Amber Vinson is on the road to recovery, Emory University Hospital said in a statement. No release date has been set for her, as she continues to receive supportive care.

Vinson is the fourth person to be successfully treated for the deadly disease at Emory. American aid workers Nancy Writebol and Dr. Kent Brantly were returned to the United States in early August via Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Cobb County after contracting the disease in west Africa and were released from the hospital after successful treatment in late August.

A worker with the World Health Organization who contracted the Ebola virus while in west Africa was successfully treated and was released from Emory University Hospital last weekend.

Each infected patient was treated in a state of the art isolation ward that is physically separated from other parts of the hospital. Only a handful of medical personnel ever interacted with the patients during their recovery.
