Midtown Resident Saves Neighbor From Being Robbed

The Good Samaritan had just arrived home from as the robbery was in progress.

A woman in Midtown can thank her neighbor’s sense of timing for saving her purse and duffel bag from the clutches of a robber.

According to a police report acquired by the Midtown-Ponce Security Alliance, the woman was returning home to the 300 block of 7th Street at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Nov. 13 when she noticed a maroon hatchback parked near her car.

The report says that as the woman was walking towards her home, a black male standing approximately 6’3” tall exited the hatchback, ran towards the woman, and tried to snatch her purse and handbag.

Around this time, the report continues, the woman’s neighbor arrived home, noticed the struggle, and charged at the robber. The robber reportedly ran back to his car, which contained a second person, and fled down Argonne Avenue.

The quick actions of the woman’s neighbor prevented the robber from making off with any loot, according to the report.
