On Tuesday evening the Mayor and Peachtree Corners City Council had the pleasure of recognizing one of its citizens for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest level in Scouting.

Mayor Mike Mason presented Jacob Hanley, a student at Pinecrest Academy, with a proclamation to recognize the achievement that only about six percent of Boy Scouts ever achieve, according to the Boy Scouts of America website.

“It’s such a pleasure to be able to recognize Jacob for his hard work in achieving Eagle Scout,” said Mayor Mike Mason. “I know how proud his parents, Jack and Monica, are of their son too.”

Achieving the rank requires a demonstration of citizenship, leadership and personal responsibility.

Jacob obtained his Eagle Scout rank by building a devotional area with a statue of Our Lady of Victory placed near Pinecrest’s athletic field as a 2015 senior class gift to the school.

Jacob is a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 650 which is sponsored by the Men’s Club of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Peachtree Corners.
