Local Singer Named Semi-Finalist In Songwriting Competition

Roswell's Community Relations Coordinator Carisa Turner's "Come Down" is vying for a win in the 2014 International Songwriting Competition.

A song from a local artist’s album has been chosen as a semi-finalist in the 2014 International Songwriting Competition.

“Come Down,” the title track from Carisa Turner’s sophomore EP, is in the running under the Folk/Singer-Songwriter category.

ISC received more than 18,000 entries from around the world for the 2014 competition. As a semi-finalist, Turner’s song placed in the top 10 percent of all entries.

Submissions are judged on the following criteria: creativity, originality, lyrics, melody, arrangement and overall likeability.

“I was absolutely thrilled to find out my song was selected as a semi-finalist,” said Turner, who is employed as the community relations coordinator with the city of Roswell. “It’s such a huge honor to have my song recognized in this way.”

Finalists will be announced within a couple of weeks. Winners will be announced as soon as the judging process is completed.

ISC songwriting categories include: AAA (Adult Album Alternative), Adult Contemporary (AC), Americana, Blues, Children’s Music, Comedy/Novelty, Country, Dance/Electronica, Folk/Singer-Songwriter, Gospel/Christian, Instrumental, Jazz, Latin Music, Lyrics Only, Music Video, Performance, Pop/Top 40, R&B/Hip-Hop, Rock, Teen, World Music, and Unsigned Only.
