Riverwood Student Earns 2nd Place In National Music Competition

Luka Marinkovic represented Georgia in the Music Teacher National Association competition for composition.

After being chosen as the Georgia winner of the Music Teacher National Association competition for composition, Riverwood senior Luka Marinkovic recently placed second in the association’s national competition. Luka’s winning composition is a four movement piano suite.

“I have known Luka Marinkovic in a variety of capacities through our music department,” said Carlos Rodgriguez, director of bands at Riverwood International Charter School. “He is organized, efficient, extremely competent and has an excellent rapport with both faculty and students. Luka has always stood out through his amazing talents and has been an indispensable member to the entire music program at Riverwood International Charter School.”

While at Riverwood, Luka has participated in band, Jazz band and the spring musical as the school’s principal pianist. Rodriguez noted his sutdent’s “hard work and determination” garnered him the second place prize.

A native of France, Luka is also the principal pianist with the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony.
