Firefighters just happened to be nearby at the time: They were at the complex responding to a call about a mother who locked her child inside her car. They were called to the crime scene to assist.

Authorities continue to investigate a possible motive in the double shooting and why the victims, both from Montgomery, Ala., were in Georgia.

One person was detained by police, but authorities have not said whether they are connected to the shooting.
