ILLINOIS — It's almost time to celebrate the red, white and blue. The Fourth of July falls on a Thursday this year, with events planned all week. If you're looking for where to catch a fireworks display, parade, and family celebration in Chicagoland, make sure to read Patch's annual guide to the 4th.

COOK COUNTY

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS

July 3-July 7: Frontier Days, Recreation Park, 500 E. Miner St., Arlington Heights. Live music, a carnival with rides, food, drinks, Frontier Days Stampede 2024, petting zoo, and much more for the entire family. July 4: Northbrook 4th of July, Techy Prairie Park, Cherry Lane and Meadowhill Park, fireworks conclude day of activities at dusk The day begins with the annual Liberty Loop & Lap (7:30 a.m.) at Techny Prairie Park & Fields in the morning, followed by the Northbrook 4th of July parade (4 p.m.) down Cherry and Cedar Lane in the afternoon, and finishes with the big Northbrook 4th of July fireworks display in the evening (at dusk) – best experienced from Meadowhill Park.

OAK FOREST

July 4: Oak Forest July 4 Fireworks, Picnic And Celebration, Picnic at 15601 Central Ave, Oak Forest. Fireworks from Gaelic Park, 6119 W. 147th St. at 9:30 p.m.

OAK LAWN

June 29: Oak Lawn Independence Day Parade and Concert, 4 p.m. parade steps off down 95th Street; post parade concert 6 p.m. with Five Guys Named Moe on the village green, 95th Street and Raymond Avenue.

July 4: Oak Lawn 2024 Fourth of July Fireworks, 9:15 p.m., Richards High School, 107th Street and Central Ave.

ORLAND PARK

CHANNAHON

July 3: Independence Day Celebration for Channahon, Ronald D. Lehman Community Park, fireworks will start at 9 p.m. The Independence Day celebration is from 6 to 9:15 p.m.

FRANKFORT

July 4: Frankfort's 4th of July fireworks, Main Park, 200 S. Locust St., Frankfort. Park will open at 7 p.m. on July 4; DJ entertainment will begin at 7:30 pm. Fireworks will begin at 9:15 p.m.

JOLIET

July 3: Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park Independence Celebration at 201 West Jefferson St.
July 4: City of Joliet's 4th of July Fireworks, Joliet's Memorial Stadium, Fireworks will start at 9 p.m. The stadium will open at 6 p.m.

LOCKPORT

July 3: Fireworks at Dellwood Park, 199 E. Woods Drive, at dusk. The City of Lockport and Lockport Township Park District will host the annual fireworks show.

MOKENA

July 3: Mokena's July 3 fireworks, Independence Day kick-off, Main Park, 10925 W. La Porte Road, Mokena, 5 p.m. Fireworks kick off at approximately 9:30 p.m.

NEW LENOX

July 4: Fireworks, Village Commons, 1 Veterans Parkway, New Lenox. Entertainment starting at 6 p.m. on July 4. The fireworks display will take place at dusk (approximately 9:15 p.m.)

PLAINFIELD

July 3: Plainfield Fourth of July Fireworks and Food Truck Festival, Gregory B. Bott Community Park, at 24550 W. Renwick Road in Plainfield. The food truck fest will run from 4-9 p.m., with the fireworks show starting around 9:15 p.m.

ROMEOVILLE

July 3: Three fireworks shows throughout the Village of Romeoville, starting at 9:30 p.m. on July 3. The three shows will be based from Volunteer Park, 1100 Murphy Drive; Lukancic Middle School, 725 Normantown Road; and Discovery Park, 300 S. Highpoint Drive.

DUPAGE COUNTY/KANE

AURORA

July 3: Fourth of July Fireworks and Food Trucks in Aurora, RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway. DJs will perform from 6-9:45 p.m.

BARTLETT

July 2: Parade. The Lion’s Club hosts floats, bands and fire engines along Oak Avenue.
July 4-7: Festival. Four-day event includes a carnival and food vendors.
July 4: Fireworks. Parking is limited for the annual “extravaganza” at Community Park.

BATAVIA

July 4: Batavia Fourth of July Sky Concert, Engstrom Family Park, 326 Millview Drive, Fireworks will go off from about 9-9:30 p.m. July 4, and they'll be preceded by a food festival from 5-9 p.m.

BURR RIDGE

July 3: Fireworks. Activities and food.

CAROL STREAM

July 4: Concert & Fireworks. Free performance and food concessions.

DARIEN

July 4: Parade. The 53rd annual event runs along Cass Avenue.

DOWNERS GROVE

July 4: Parade & Fireworks. Downers Grove native Savannah Harmon is this year’s grand marshal.

ELMHURST

July 4: Fun Run. Includes a 1K race for kids.

GLEN ELLYN

June 28: Food Truck Festival. Picnic in the park at Lake Ellyn.
July 4: Parade & Fireworks. Parade along Falwell in the afternoon before fireworks at dusk.

HINSDALE

July 4: Parade, Craft Fair & Family Festival. Admission is free.

ITASCA

July 4: Fireworks. A music-filled evening.

LISLE

July 3: Concert & Fireworks. The Brandy Kristin Band precedes the fireworks display.

LOMBARD

July 4: Fireworks. Hosted by the village at dusk.

NAPERVILLE

July 5-7: Independence Day Salute. Join the “family-friendly Independence Day hometown celebration” on the Riverfront.

July 4: Fireworks. Nearly 2,000 parking spaces are available for this annual display.

OAK BROOK

OSWEGO

July 4: Oswego Fourth of July Fireworks, Prairie Point Community Park, 4120 Plainfield Road.

YORKVILLE

July 4: Independence Day Celebration in Yorkville, Town Square, 301 N. Bridge St. A parade will step off at 9 a.m. July 4 at Yorkville High School and end at Town Square Park. Activities will commence after the parade, and fireworks will go off at dusk.

LAKE/MCHENRY COUNTY

BUFFALO GROVE

July 4: Fireworks and Concert, Willow Stream Park, 651 Old Checker Road, Buffalo Grove, 7 p.m. Hear the full Symphonic Band perform American, Patriotic, Traditional and Broadway selections in the setting of a good old-fashioned 4th of July concert at Willow Stream Park leading up to the annual Village fireworks display.

DEERFIELD

July 3: Deerfield Family Days, Alan B. Shepard Middle School, 440 Grove Ave., 5:30 p.m.

HIGHLAND PARK

LIBERTYVILLE

July 4: Fireworks, Butler Lake Park, 835 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville, 7:30 p.m. The fun begins with a concert of patriotic music performed by the Village Band at 7:30 p.m. on July 4 at the Butler Lake Band Shell. The fireworks display will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.

VERNON HILLS

Parade, Music and Fireworks, Century Park Arboretum, 1002 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills. 9 a.m. – Parade through Deerpath neighborhood. Roads close starting at 8:30 a.m./7 p.m. – Music and fun provided by DJ Top Dog from A to Z at Century Park/9:15 to 9:30 p.m. – Fireworks begin at Century Park.
