Metra Train Strikes Car In Downtown Arlington Heights: Police

The crossing at Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway has reopened to normal traffic following the Monday incident.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A car was struck Monday morning by a westbound Metra commuter train at the intersection of Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway. Police said the crash happened at around 9:50 a.m.

First responders from both the police and fire departments were dispatched to the scene for injuries. Details of those injuries and the conditions of anyone involved have not been released.

Due to some minor damage to the train, the rail grade crossing at Evergreen and Northwest Highway will remain blocked and closed for an extended period while Metra and Union
Pacific Railroad personnel conduct repairs. The crossing at Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway has reopened to normal traffic.
