BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

  • Gerardo Ramirez, 25, of the 300 block of Surrey Road, Wheeling, is accused of driving under the influence, and was arrested at 11:51 p.m. June 28, in the 1000 block of Deerfield Road. Multiple callers had reported a car driving west on Deerfield Road in the eastbound lanes. He was released and assigned a court date of July 17.
  • Alexander J. Ahlgrim, 24, of Lexington, Kentucky, is accused of DUI drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful use of a weapon (machete), speeding (60 mph in a 30 mph zone), and was arrested at 9:08 a.m. July 1, in the 1100 block of W. Dundee Road. He was released and assigned a court date of July 31.

RETAIL THEFT

  • Police responded to Walgreens, 15 N. Buffalo Grove Road, at 7:59 p.m. June 26, for a retail theft report. A person had placed alcohol in a green bag before leaving the store without paying for it.
  • Police responded at 2:58 p.m. June 27, for a report of retail theft at Discovery Clothing, 1309 W. Dundee Road. According to the store, two females, who appeared to be shopping, walked out of the store empty-handed and went to their car for five minutes before returning to the store. One left the store in a hurry with keys in her hand. She then pulled her car in front of the store, and the second female rushed out of the store and got in the car. They fled in an unknown direction.
  • Police responded to Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 5:32 p.m. June 28, for a retail theft report. Employees told police two people placed various items in a shopping cart and proceeded to a register. The duo scanned and paid for only a few food items from the shopping cart before leaving the store and not paying for the rest. They loaded the stolen merchandise into a car and left.
  • Police responded to Woodman's Grocery at 11:18 a.m. June 30, for a retail theft report. Staff reported a person had stolen merchandise on three separate occasions — June 9 ($25.39), June 26 ($47.91), and June 27 ($26.22) for a total of $99.52. The person was given three village ordinance violations for retail theft and trespassed from the store on July 1.

THEFT

A resident in the 100 block of Old Barn Court reported at 1:21 p.m. June 28, FedEx had delivered a package to the house. An unknown man wearing a maroon sweatshirt, blue jeans, and white slippers took the box, and left on foot southbound on Hidden Lake Drive.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • Police responded to the 900 block of W. Dundee Road at 8:18 a.m. July 1, for criminal damage to property report. The complainant said someone had attempted to steal the company's golf cart over the weekend. Police found that the ignition appeared to have been pulled out from the front console.
  • A resident in the 200 block of Rosewood Avenue reported criminal damage to property on July 2. Someone had damaged their flowers, which were located near the garage. Three plants were dug out of the ground, and laundry detergent had been poured on several other flowers in the nearby flower pots.
