Derrick Rose Traded to New York Knicks

So long, and thanks for all the nothing.

The often-injured Derrick Rose — a homegrown basketball talent with a reported fondness for group sex with his homies — was traded from the Chicago Bulls to the New York Knicks on Wednesday.

In return for the point guard, the Bulls get center Robin Lopez, guard Jerian Grant and guard Jose Calderon, according to various NBA media sources, including David Schuster of WSCR "The Score". The Bulls also give up Justin Holiday and a 2017 second-round pick.

Rose helped bring no championships to Chicago.

Sadly, Bulls fans no longer get to enjoy predicting the location, severity and duration of Rose's next injury.

For the record, we believe he's sustained a dozen noteworthy boo-boos that kept him off the court, including an orbital fracture, a sprained wrist, a sprained big toe, three meniscus tears, a sprained foot, a torn ACL and rug burns.

OK, we made up that part about rug burns.

He also sat out games due to "just soreness all over."

Before the 2015-16 season, Rose dedicated part of Bulls media day to telling everyone how much he looked forward to free agency in two years so he could take care of his family.

“... as far as seeing all the money that they’re passing out in this league. Just telling the truth. Just knowing that my day will be coming up soon, and it’s not for me. It’s for P.J. and his future, so that’s what I’m thinking about now.

The Bulls failed to make the playoffs this season.

Reports ESPN:

A source close to Rose said the Chicago native was very emotional about leaving his hometown team, which drafted him No. 1 overall out of Memphis in 2008, because of all his great memories there but that he wanted the big stage of New York.
Once Rose got word the Bulls were looking to trade him, he hoped it would be to the Knicks.
"His first choice was New York," the source said. "He wants the spotlight."

Speaking of spotlight, last August, a woman in California sued Rose, and accused him of drugging and raping her in 2013.

Named as defendants along with Rose, 26, are Randall Hampton, who “has been Rose’s best friend since sixth grade and is now his main assistant,” according to the lawsuit, and Ryan Allen, a South Holland native who “grew up with Rose and is now his assistant.”

The woman, identified in her lawsuit as “Jane Doe,” says she met Rose at a party he threw in October 2011. He seemed “shy,” the suit said, and they became involved in an “intimate relationship.”

In February, a roommate of the accuser said the lawsuit was a sham and an effort to extort money from the basketball player.

Rose said he's confident he'll be vindicated.

Rose, a graduate of Simeon High School, was selected by the Bulls with the first pick in the 2008 NBA draft. He was rookie of the year in 2009, and in 2011, he was the league's youngest MVP.

Though he was no MJ, nor a Pippen, nor a Kukoc, he'll be missed, apparently.

Then again, maybe not.

And this seems likely to happen.
