Kane Co. Animal Control To Host Drive-Thru Rabies Vaccine Clinic

The county is set to offer rabies vaccinations from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Geneva.

GENEVA, IL — Kane County residents can take their pets to get rabies shots at a vaccination clinic Saturday in Geneva. Kane County Animal Control staff will use a drive-thru system to keep workers and residents safe amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Volunteers and workers from the county's Animal Control division will take pets from residents' vehicles to the exam station, where a doctor will perform tests and administer vaccinations, according to a news release. A clerk will remain at the car to complete the rabies certificate and payment.

After medical crews conduct the exams and administer vaccinations, a veterinarian will speak to pet owners in their vehicles, the release states.

A similar drive-thru clinic in June provided vaccinations for 164 cats and dogs, officials said.

Animal control staff members will be wearing masks, gloves and medical-grade tops to keep pets and their owners safe, the release states. The exam station will be cleaned in between each client. Officials are asking pet owners to wear a mask and remain in their cars at the clinic.

The clinic runs is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kane County Animal Control building at 4060 Keslinger Road in Geneva.
