Drunk Driver Gets 10 Years for Crash That Killed Glenview Couple
The 30-year-old has been held without bond since the incident more than two years ago.
GLENVIEW, IL - A Glenview man responsible for the drunk driving deaths of a local couple will spend 10 years in prison, a judge ruled on Monday.
Daniel Shmelevich, 30, of the 10300 block of Michael Todd Terrace, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated DUI Monday in connection with a Sept. 22, 2013 head-on crash on Milwaukee Avenue that killed Sean and Lisa O’Brien of Glenview, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Shmelevich has been behind bars since his arrest, and will receive 834 days credit for time he has served in the Cook County jail.

Police said at the time of the accident Shmelevich was driving a 2001 Toyota Camry and the O’Briens were in a 2012 Kia Soul. Sean O’Brien died minutes after the accident and Lisa died days later.
