Resident Sends $36K To Barbra Streisand's 'Son': Glenview PD Blotter

The resident believed they were in an online relationship with a person claiming to be the singer's son, according to police.

Aika Reginaldo, 31, of the 2900 block of White Thorn Circle, Naperville, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 10:49 p.m. March 1, after being involved in a traffic crash in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road. She was released and assigned a court date of April 12.

Brian Morrow, 58, of the 1500 block of Plymouth Place, Glenview, had a warrant out of Cook County for failure to appear for aggravated battery, and was arrested at 2:02 p.m. Feb. 26, after police responded to a dispute at Busey Bank, 800 Waukegan Road.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

  • A Fernwood Lane resident reported at 12:43 p.m. Feb. 26, that they had been chatting with someone via Google Chat whom they believed was Ed Sheeran and Ed Sheeran's manager. The resident was trying to become Ed Sheeran's No. 1 fan and sent pictures of gift cards in the amount of $500 believing that they would receive special treatment by Ed Sheeran when he visited the Chicago area. This had been occurring since October 2023 with a total loss of $7,000.
  • A Waterview Drive resident called police at 10:24 a.m. Feb. 27, to report someone sent $250 using Apple Pay from their account to an unknown person’s account.
  • An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Lehigh Avenue reported at 10:24 a.m. Feb. 29, receiving an order that was paid for with a fraudulent credit card. Total loss is $1,674.
  • A resident in the 2000 block of Ammer Ridge Court called police at 7:49 p.m. March 2 to report receiving a phone call from someone who identified themselves as a U.S. Customs Agent, claiming they intercepted a package filled with drugs being shipped to Mexico with their name and address listed as the sender. The subject said they needed to verify the money in their bank account was not involved in criminal activity and they would need to send money for them to inspect. The resident sent the subject $17,000 in cryptocurrency to a QR code.
  • A Lehigh Avenue resident reported at 12:13 p.m. Feb. 4, having an online relationship with a man they believed to be Barbra Streisand's son. From November 2023 to March 1, the resident sent approximately $36,000 to the person through Zelle for various items they had requested assistance buying.

TRESPASS WARNING

  • The manager of a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported at 3:13 p.m. Feb. 28, a Waukegan resident was asking people for money and smoking in front of the doors. The subject was given a trespass warning.
  • The owner of a business in the 1300 block of Waukegan Road reported at 6:04 p.m. Feb. 29, someone in the business was refusing to leave. The subject was identified and given a trespass warning.
  • An employee of a business in the 1800 block of Pickwick Avenue called police at 8:58 a.m. March 4, to report workers at a neighboring business keep using their driveway as a cut through. The business confronted the workers and an argument ensued, in which one threatened to put three bullets in the business owner's head. They were given a trespass warning to stay off the property.

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

A Mount Prospect resident was cited at 9:29 p.m. Feb. 28, for no valid driver's license, speeding 15-20 mph over the speed limit, after a traffic stop for the violations in the 4800 block of West Lake Avenue. The subject was street booked and released.

RETAIL THEFT

  • The manager of a business in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road reported at 1:20 p.m. Feb. 29, two people took five bottles of liquor, valued at $273.91, without paying for the items.
  • Employees of a business in the 2700 block of Old Willow Road reported at 12:07 p.m. March 3, someone took several items from the store without paying for them on two separate occasions.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

A resident in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive called police at 2:51 a.m. March 1, to report someone had removed the license plate from a vehicle parked in the lot.

AGGRAVATED IDENTITY THEFT

A Central Road resident reported on March 1 their American Airlines account had been accessed by someone and their flyer miles were used without permission for six transactions on Feb. 29, totaling 150,000 miles valued at $4,425.

STALKING

A staff member of a business in the 1700 block of Grove Street reported at 1:27 p.m. March 1, receiving letters of threatening and anti-homosexual nature from an unknown person.

HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE

An employee of a business in the 3400 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 9:37 p.m. March 3, an irate customer had called the restaurant four times, upset about an order, threatening to beat up employees.
